Set your heart ablaze: where to find Rengu in the Forgotten Ruins, what Flame training costs, every form from Unknowing Fire to Flame Tiger, and the Rengoku clan pairing that makes the kit sing.
Flame Breathing is the boss-killer of Project Slayers 2. Its forms layer immediate damage with stacking burn, and on long boss health bars that burn quietly does the work of a second player. Community tier lists consistently rate Flame in A tier — a half-step below the Thunder/Serpent/Wind trio in raw PvP, but arguably faster at melting PvE bosses than any of them.
The kit belongs, body and soul, to Kyojuro Rengoku — the Flame Hashira — and Slayers 2 honors that with one of the most aggressive, forward-charging move sets in the game. Playing Flame means permanently walking into the fight. Plan your Wen accordingly.
Flame is one of the more expensive styles to train — the game charges you for all that damage.
The standard breathing gate. Because Flame's costs are steep, most players arrive a few levels above it.
Rengu trains from the rooftop of the large wooden house in the Forgotten Ruins. Guides have also referenced a Mistfall Harbor route — if one path dead-ends, check the other and the in-game marker.
The trainer's perch is deliberately vertical. Circle the building for the stairs/ladders, and bring stamina food for the climb.
Flame historically charges the steepest fees of the eight trainers — in the original game it was 10,000 Wen and 150 Demon Horns, and Slayers 2 keeps Flame on the high end. Redeem every active code first; free Wen takes the sting out.
Finish Rengu's drills and the First Form unlocks. The rest of the kit opens through use, levels and materials — with Ninth Form: Rengoku as the long-term capstone.
Trainers and fees shift between patches — Rengu's dialogue in your game, and the official Trello board linked from our wiki page, always carry the live values.
The Rengoku school, form by form. Names follow the anime's numbering; exact unlock order is set in-game.
A momentum dash that closes distance and opens damage — the reliable starter every Flame build is built around.
An upward arc slash that catches aerial targets and punishes jumps — quietly one of the best anti-air tools in the game.
A sweeping flame strike with strong area coverage for packs and clustered enemies.
A sustained burn wave — the engine of Flame's damage-over-time identity against bosses.
A lunging flame-fang strike; high single-target damage and the kit's flashiest animation.
The dedication-fueled finale. Maximum burst to finish fights — save it for the killing window.
Flame Breathing plus the Rengoku clan is the classic synergy build of Slayers 2. Rengoku is one of the strongest rolls on the clan tier list, and its fire-leaning passives amplify exactly what Flame wants to do: stack burn, charge forward, and win the damage race. If your Spins land a Rengoku, Flame is the natural style to build around it — and vice versa.
Not lucky with rerolls? Any S-tier clan still works. Flame's burn scales off the style itself, so the clan is an amplifier rather than a requirement.
| Aspect | Original Project Slayers | Slayers 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Trainer | Flame Trainer (Rengoku-inspired) | Rengu (same inspiration) |
| Location | Wop City, map 2 | Forgotten Ruins rooftop (Mistfall Harbor route also cited) |
| Entry bar | ~Level 50 to reach map 2 | Level 25 gate + travel |
| Cost | 10,000 Wen + 150 Demon Horns | High-end Wen + materials (rebalanced) |
Reach level 25 on the slayer path, then find the Flame trainer Rengu — he trains from the rooftop of the great wooden house in the Forgotten Ruins region. His fee and material costs are among the steepest of the eight styles, so arrive with a full purse of Wen and a stack of Demon Horns.
Rengu, the Rengoku-inspired trainer, is found in the Forgotten Ruins — look for the large wooden house and climb to its rooftop. Community guides have also referenced a Mistfall Harbor route, and trainers occasionally move in updates, so confirm the marker in-game or on the official Trello before the trip.
Yes — Flame sits in A tier in most rankings and excels at bossing thanks to its burn damage stacking on long boss health bars. For raw PvP burst, Thunder and Serpent usually edge it out, but for melting PvE bosses Flame is one of the fastest picks in the game.
The kit follows the Rengoku school from the anime: First Form: Unknowing Fire (a dashing opener), Second Form: Rising Scorching Sun, Third Form: Blazing Universe, Fourth Form: Blooming Flame Undulation, Fifth Form: Flame Tiger, and the celebrated finale Ninth Form: Rengoku.
In the original game the Flame Trainer lived in Wop City on map 2, which required being around level 50 to reach, with training costing 10,000 Wen and 150 Demon Horns. Slayers 2 replaced Wop City with the Forgotten Ruins route and rebalanced the costs.
The Rengoku clan is the on-theme pairing and one of the strongest S-tier rolls in the tier list — its buffs amplify fire and burn-heavy playstyles. Any other S-tier clan (Kamado, Uzui, Soyama) also works well since clan passives apply to every breathing style.
